Andrew Schorr, 59 and living with his family near Seattle, has been a pioneer in health communications since 1984 after a previous career as a national television news and information reporter and producer. In 1996 he was diagnosed with leukemia. By connecting with an online community of patients he was guided to specialists in his condition. He enrolled in a clinical trial that, fortunately, led to a long-term remission and a normal life without the need for ongoing treatment. Andrew’s mission – his passion – is to empower other patients with information and the tools to be “powerful patients” themselves. His blog in text and often on video, updated at least weekly, is Andrew’s attempt to reflect on important issues, memorable people and their stories, and to inspire you, the reader/viewer.
